The Bauchi State Police Command have confirmed the death of a suspected armed robber in Duwaduwa village, Local Government Area of the state, IgbereTV reports.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, December 4, said armed hoodlums invaded the village on Tuesday night, attacked a man with cutlass and made away with his brand new motorcycle.
“On the 01/12/2020 at about 0700hrs following a credible information received from a good Samaritan at Zaki Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date at about 0230hrs some group of hoodlums armed with bow, arrow and cutlasses numbering about five suspected to be motorcycle snatchers invaded Duwaduwa village murmur ward via Sakwa district a remote area,” said Wakil.
“They attacked and matchetted one Muhammadu Adamu ‘m’ of Duwaduwa village with cutlasses in his house located at Duwa Duwa village thereby robbed and made away with his brand-new Bajaj motorcycle unregistered valued about N270,000 (two hundred and seventy thousand naira) ”
Wakil said that while the victim was lying down in a pool of blood, he raised alarm, some angry villagers mobilized and chased the hoodlums.
Eventually, one of the hoodlums identified as Sani Alhaji Dalori was caught and lynched by the angry villagers while the remaining gang of the hoodlums escaped with the motorcycle to an unknown destination.
“On receipt of the information, team of detectives led by the DPO visited the scene of crime, corpse of the suspected hoodlum moved to General Hospital Zaki for postmortem. During investigation search was conducted at the house/premises of the suspect. One locally made SMG riffle was recovered. The Commissioner of Police directed that the case to be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.” the statement reads.
Exhibit recovered from the scene include one locally made SMG riffle, cutlass, bow and arrow.
