A man has been discharged and acquitted after spending 5 years in prison for a crime he says he didn’t commit, IgbereTV reports.
According to youth advocate, Oluyemi Fasipe, the man was mistakenly arrested alongside some kidnappers. During the arrest, he was allegedly shot by SARS and his leg had to be amputated.
Oluyemi said he spoke with the man’s lawyer and advised him to write a petition to the Ondo State panel of inquiry on the victim’s behalf.
Oluyemi Fasipe wrote on his Twitter handle:
“I saw this guy at the court now, he was discharged & acquitted after spending 5yrs in prison, he was mistakenly arrested alongside some kidnappers, he was shot by SARS during the arrest & had to be amputated. Imagine going through all these without committing any crime. #EndSARS”
