Reno Omokri has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari for saying that the COVID-19 pandemic led to Nigeria’s present economic recession, IgbereTV reports.
According to media reports, President Buhari said that the present economic crisis in the country was caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Buhari said:
“We can all recall that during the lockdown, farming did not take place, businesses were closed; schools were closed as were hotels and restaurants.
“Also, airlines stopped flying, while inter-state commerce was disrupted.
“The economy only began to recover when these activities resumed and if we are able to sustain the nearly three percentage point increase from the second quarter decline of minus 6.1 per cent, the performance in the fourth quarter could take us into positive territory.”
But Reno Omokri insists that president Buhari’s poor management of resources plunged the country into another economic recession.

“No sir. It was your COVIDIOCY that caused the recession. How can you budget $500 million to digitalise @NTANewsNow that is not worth $50 million, and budget ₦37 billion to renovate a NASS building built for ₦11 billion and not expect a recession? You are a #COVIDIOT!
