The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that the Abia State Airport project will not be completely cancelled or abandoned.
The Governor gave the assurance in a recent tweet sighted by Igbere TV on his official Twitter handle, @GovernorIkpeazu.
He said his administration would rather focus on completing other ongoing projects in the state before embarking on the Airport project.
According to him, his government will return to the project mid 2021, describing the act as placing priority in the face of “scarce resources.”
“The true position of our Airport project is that we focus on the completion of ongoing projects as earlier outlined & then return to the airport project mid 2021; not cancellation”, he said.
“Let’s appreciate the place of prioritization of unlimited needs in the face of scarce resources”, Governor Ikpeazu tweeted.
The Governor’s clarification put to rest media speculations that Ikpeazu will completely drop the airport project following a request by traditional rulers to the governor to focus on other infrastructures.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Governor has hinted that he is not leaving his party; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming on the heels of rumours and media speculations that the governor may soon be on his way to the ruling party with his Ebonyi State counterpart, Engr. David Umahi.
In a tweet sighted by Igbere TV, Governor Ikpeazu simply wrote; “Peoples Democratic Party” with the flag of the party attached to the tweet in an apparent veiled response to the speculations.
