Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has questioned the “suitability and competences” of coach Gernot Rohr after Super Eagles’ back-to-back draws against Sierra Leone in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, IgbereTV reports.
Dare made this known on Twitter and threatened that the ‘needful will be done’ following the performance of the Super Eagles from their last two matches.
Recall Nigeria threw away a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 with Sierra Leone in their first-leg clash at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State last Friday, November 13th.
In the second-leg which took place on Tuesday, November 17th at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown, the game ended in 0 – 0.
The Minister stated in his tweet that ‘Nigerian football deserves better’ and also tendered an apology to ‘football lovers’ over the Super Eagles’ recent performances.
He wrote,
“The performance of the Super Eagles from their last two matches calls to question the suitability and competences of Technical Adviser, Rohr. Nigerian football deserves better. The needful will be done. Apologies to all football lovers.”
