The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has called on the Nigerian government to scrap police force’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit across the country.
Apostle Suleman made the call over the weekend while adding his voice in condemning the recurring brutality of the unit, following a viral video of the shooting of a young man in Ughelli, Delta by men of the SARS.
The video, currently making the rounds on social media, showed moments men suspected to be SARS operatives killed the victim and made away with his Lexus car.
Reacting in a series of tweets sighted by Igbere TV on his Twitter handle, Saturday night, Apostle Suleman said the SARS unit should be scrapped as they are a ‘disgrace’ to the police force.
“SARS should be proscribed..they are a disgrace to the police force..they are worst than the ‘criminals’ they claim to be against..their trigger-happy nature have rendered mothers childless, sent youths on premature extinction.wasted destinies.they will reap what they sow,” he said.
The controversial clergyman also took a swipe at the governments, saying the old have failed in leadership as they are responsible for the deaths of the young.
“The old have failed in leadership..now the youths are been killed by SARS and their salaries are paid by these same failed old leaders..so indirectly, the old are killing the young,” Apostle Suleman added.
