The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday, received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Also receiving the Certificate from the Electoral umpire, is the Deputy Governor, Hon. Philip Shaibu, Igbere TV reports.
Obaseki emerged victorious after a keenly contested election last Saturday defeating his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Igbere TV had on Sunday reported how Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured 307,955 votes to defeat Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate, who got 223,619 votes.
Even though the APC at the national level and President Muhammadu Buhari have congratulated Obaseki on his victory, separately, the APC in Edo is keen on contesting the outcome of the election, having rejected the results.
