ASONIS Lauds Gov. Ugwuanyi’s Effort In Tackling Insecurity, Sexual Violence (Photos)

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, has been applauded by the Association Of Southern Nigeria Students (ASONIS) for his efforts in tackling insecurity and sexual violence.

The group which was led by its pioneer President, Comrade Edeh Elijah, appreciated Ugwuanyi when they paid a courtesy visit to the Governor on the 29th August, 2020 at the Lion Building Enugu State.


During the visit, IGBERE TV gathered that the Governor who was represented by Her Excellency, Hon. Bar. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo expressed her appreciation to the Students Union President and his executive for finding time to visit His Excellency.

“The Association Of Southern Nigeria Students which partnered with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) made this visit during her Road Walk Campaign Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence tagged ” LET’S SAVE THE YOUTHS, THEY ARE LEADERS OF TOMORROW. ”

“The sponsor of the campaign RT. Hon. Mrs Mary Onyinye Ugwu – Deputy Leader, Enugu State House of Assembly ensured that the association met with Enugu State Governor in order to register her sincere acknowledgement to the Governor who had supported Enugu State House Of Assembly to enact laws that will punish rapists and other crime perpetrators in Enugu state.”

“RT. Hon. Mrs Mary Onyinye Ugwu is the House committee chairperson on Gender Affairs & Social Development.”

“The Enugu State Governor who was represented by Her Excellency, Hon. Bar. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo expressed her appreciation to the Students Union President and his executive for finding time to visit His Excellency. She applauded the good roles we are playing in ensuring that rape, child abuse, drug abuse, cultism, domestic violence, and other vices are reduced in our dear state and country. She urged ASONIS to always embrace dialogue and use communication as imperative ingredient to resolve conflicts. She also advised them to shun crime and vices within and outside the Students Communities. She maintained that this message should get to citizens at grassroot so that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s agenda to get rid of rape, and other vices will be totally achieved.”

” While speaking, Comrade Edeh Elijah and his executive lauded Gov. Ugwuanyi’s stance on zero tolerance to sexual and gender based violence in Enugu state.”

” The association appreciated NANS zonal and state structure, Council of S.U.G. Presidents Enugu, NACESS and other student’s associations that joined in this timely campaign.”
