Supreme Court Verdict: Engr. Ohere Congratulates Gov. Bello, Describes The Apex Court Ruling As An Affirmation Of The People’s Will

The Honourable Commissioner for Works and Housing Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere has congratulated the Governor of Kogi state Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello.

In his statement, Engr. Ohere described the apex court ruling as “an affirmation of the people’s will as expressed through their votes in the November 16th 2019 Governorship election in the state.”

The Honourable Commissioner noted that lovers of democracy must commend the resilience of the judiciary in deepening the country’s democracy through its sound judgements. He added that with this judgement, “it is my hope that the verdict has put to an end the needless bickering, distractions and provocation that greeted the 2019 General election.”

He further stated that, the Supreme Court ruling is a confirmation of both the perfect will of God and of the irrefutable choice of the people of Kogi state. It also reinforces the confidence our people have in the judiciary he added.

“This is a good development for the advancement of democracy in Nigeria as it goes a long way to pattern true democracy for other African nations”

Today’s judgment, Engr. Ohere said, “Shattered all hurdles set against the Governor and has fully set him and his team on the journey to take the state in LET’S DO MORE infrastructural renewal and economic development”

He commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for his doggedness, resilience, commitment to the rule of law and abiding faith in the judiciary that culminated into this ultimate victory. It is victory at last for us all, Engr. Ohere stated.

“This is yet another landmark judgment that will enrich our democratic and political processes. The judgment is a great relief for all Kogites after a period of fierce contest and bickering at the tribunal and as well the court of appeal. The Supreme Court has not only upheld the choice of greater number of the people of Kogi state who chose APC and Governor Yahaya Bello at the polls, it has also affirmed our belief in the judiciary as impartial arbiter whose pronouncements have strengthened our democracy in great leap”

He felicitated with the good people of Kogi state, APC leaders on this sweet victory, noting that the judgment is instructive because it has cleared all hurdles set against our collective match to “let’s do more” of good governance heralded by renewed energy to restore the state glory in infrastructure, economy and social well-being.

One of the greatest things about democracy is that it gives us avenues for redress through the courts.
The state cannot afford to go back to the period of plague that characterised the PDP’s misrule that pushed the state to the edge. Therefore, I see the judgment as a victory for good governance instituted by His Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello and for all patriotic Kogites who share our philosophy for the rebirth of a new Kogi state where everything will work for the benefit of all.” Ohere reiterated.

To this end, it’s with great joy with this victory nothing that the Supreme Court’s judgment had not only consolidated the nation’s democracy, but further strengthened the citizens’ belief in the judicial process.

Engr. Ohere congratulated the people of Kogi State, saying, they are the real winner in the context. He finally stressed that Gov. Bello would take Kogi State to the next level and do more for the development and prosperity of the people and the land.
