The Society of Professional Igbo Journalists (SPIJ), has announced that it will be meeting in Enugu, the Enugu state capital over the weekend, IgbereTV reports.
In a notice signed by its Convener, ThankGod Ofoelue, and Secretary, Chidipeters Okorie, the meeting was fixed in order to discuss the challenges facing Ndi Igbo in Nigeria, with emphasis on the media industry.
The notice also revealed that major issues like security, Ndi Igbo and 2023, infrastructural development, international seaports and airports, and the media industry will form major topics during the meeting.
Speaking to journalists on the matter, SPIJ Secretary Chidipeters Okorie also said that the organization will be welcoming new members “a lot of people have indicated interest to join the SPIJ, including publishers, reporters, photojournalists and bloggers. We are inviting them all, to be available at the meeting so that we together can move Igbo land forward with the power of our pen”, he stated.
