Gov. Ikpeazu Commends Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission's DG, Izuwah

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Tuesday, commended the Director General, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, ICRC, Engineer Chidi Izuwah, for the good job he is doing.

In a letter signed by his Special Adviser on Strategy and Planning in Abuja, Dr. Iboko Imo Iboko, the Governor decried the slow pace of work at the Isiala Ngwa Inland Container Dry Port. He said that Government is aware of the socio- economic importance of the Port to Abia State and the South- East and is willing to ensure its realisation.

The letter urged the DG, ICRC, to energise the Concessionnaire to do all it will take to complete the project within the agreed time and assured that once the Concessionnaire shows adequate seriousness, Abia State will deliver her own items of work.

IGBERE TV recalls that the Isiala Ngwa Inland Container Dry Port is located at Ntigha and was approved by the Federal Government in 2007, alongside six others across the Country. Abia State was the first to issue the Certificate of Occupancy for the huge site in 2008. A Concessionnaire was appointed for the project, who engaged a Chinese Company as Contractor.

In a meeting with Abia State Government in May 2019, the Concessionnaire agreed to complete the project in 24months. Since then, not much has been done on site, hence the need to appeal to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission to impress on the Concessionnaire to show more seriousness and commitment to the project.
