Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Sunday, warned traders to stay away from the Bakasi Market and Aba North Industrial Shoe Plaza, which were closed down by Government as a result of the unwarranted attack of men of the Abia State Fire Service and the destruction of Abia State Fire Service vehicles.
A statement made available to IGBERE TV by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. A.C.B. Agbazuere said the Government is working towards reopening the markets, any attempt by anyone to invade the markets or take laws into his/her hands, shall be treated as an act of subversion with its attendant collateral consequences
The statement reads,
“The attention of Government has been drawn to sinister moves by some traders with the aid of hired mercenaries to forcefully break into Umuehilegbu Industrial Market popularly called Bakasi Market and Aba North Industrial Shoe Plaza, which were closed down by Government as a result of the unwarranted attack of men of the Abia State Fire Service and the destruction of Abia State Fire Service vehicles.”
“While Government is working towards reopening the markets, any attempt by anyone to invade the markets or take laws into his/her hands, shall be treated as an act of subversion with its attendant collateral consequences.”
“All traders are therefore to stay away from the markets for now, as security agents have been reinforced to deal decisively with anyone who tries to test the Will of Government.”
“To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”
