Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has noted the laudable objectives of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank, an outfit set up by the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria for the benefit of Farmers, especially to facilitate Agribusinesses and to reduce the Risks in Agricultural activities generally.
Unfortunately, Agricultural practitioners in Abia State are not very aware of the existence and objectives of the Bank due to inadequate publicity, enlightenment, advocacy and awareness by this federal government institution.
In a letter to the Managing Director of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank, Mr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kure, signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Strategy and Planning in Abuja, Dr. Iboko Imo Iboko, the Governor called on the Bank to mount enlightenment programmes in Abia State as is being done in other States, to enable Abia farmers participate in the schemes of the institution and boost the Agricultural production of the State.
