IgbereTV reports that Governor Wike of Rivers State has dissolved the State Taskforce on Illegal Street Trading and Motor Parks, following attacks by youths in Rivers State who destroyed vehicle belonging to the task force after it allegedly caused an accident that claimed a man’s life on Tuesday August 11.
According to IgbereTV reports, the attack started when the task force vehicle allegedly caused an accident that claimed the life of a man in Port Harcourt. The youths threw stones and other items on the vehicle, destroying it, though the task force officials escaped unhurt.
After the incident, the state governor, Nyesom Wike, ordered the dissolution of the taskforce.
A statement released on the governor’s twitter handle reads
”The Rivers State Taskforce on Illegal Street Trading and Motor Parks has been dissolved with immediate effect. Consequently, the Special Assistant to the Governor in charge of the Task Force, Mr. Bright Amaewhule has been relieved of his appointment.”
