The Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe, PhD, OFR, has congratulated Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere on his emergence as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State.
Igbere TV had reported the emergence of Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, as the Abia PDP chairman.
Hon. Okere polled a total of 2,105 votes to emerge victorious, while his Deputy, Obinna Nwachukwu garnered 2,051 votes, Igbere TV reports.
In a personally signed statement forwarded to Igbere TV on Monday, Prof. Gregory said he was confident that Okere’s reign as PDP chairman would bring peace and harmony within the Party.
“With hindsight of your political pedigree and knowledge of your endowed capacity in Human Resource Management, which manifested during your helmsmanship of the 5th Abia State House of Assembly, I am convinced that your leadership will definitely engender peace, harmony and progress within the party in particular and the entire state by extension,” he said.
“I therefore urge you to leverage the solid foundations laid by the founding fathers of our party in ensuring that PDP not only remains the dominant political party in Abia State, but also emerges as a trusted stimulant of enduring development in Gods own State.
“As you commence this crucial task, do count on my unalloyed support and sustained collaboration, as we all partner to make Abia truly great,” the Gregory University Chancellor added.
