Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has invited eight leaders of different churches to collect outstanding food items of the previously allocated palliative materials due to them.
Ikpeazu, who made this known in a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi, said the state government has also approved distribution of palliative materials to the following organizations for immediate delivery to their vulnerable members:
I. Tricycle (Keke) operators under the umbrellas of SATOA, ATRIWA and TOAN.
II. Commercial vehicle operators under the umbrellas of NURTW, RTEAN, Cooperative and NARTO.
He noted that the leaders of the invited groups are expected to visit the food bank from 10am on Friday, 17th July, 2020, to collect due palliatives for immediate onward distribution to their vulnerable members only
The statement reads,
“The Chairman of Abia State Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19, Barr Chris Ezem, hereby invites state leaders of the following Churches to visit the food bank at the Office of the Wife of Governor on Friday, 17th July, 2020, to collect the outstanding food items of the previously allocated palliative materials due to them:
A. Presbyterian Church of Nigeria
B. Salvation Ministries
C. Cherubim & Seraphim
D. TREM
E. ECWA
F. Holy Sabbath Mission
G. Church of God Mission Int’l
F. Celestial Church of Christ
Furthermore, in consideration of the effects of the lockdown and other measures taken by the state government to control the spread of COVID-19 which has adversely impacted commercial transport operators in the state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the distribution of palliative materials to the following organizations for immediate delivery to their vulnerable members:
I. Tricycle (Keke) operators under the umbrellas of SATOA, ATRIWA and TOAN.
II. Commercial vehicle operators under the umbrellas of NURTW, RTEAN, Cooperative and NARTO.
Kindly note that only the state chairmen and secretaries of the aforementioned unions are expected to collect on behalf of their members.
In addition, Governor Ikpeazu has approved the distribution of the 4th batch of palliative materials to vulnerable persons in all the communities in the state through the Transition Council Chairman of the 17 LGAs. All TC Chairmen are therefore invited to visit the food bank from Friday, 17th July, 2020, to collect materials allocated to their respective areas.
