Abia: Shut Up, Ikuku's Mission to Kalu Patriotic, ex Dep. CoS Blasts Ubani

Former Abia State Deputy Chief Of Staff, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya has lambasted the current CoS, Chief (Don Ubani ) Okwubunka for asking the Honorable Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chief Chinedum Orji (Ikuku) to resign as speaker or stand to be impeached over his visit to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV on Monday, Chief Ogbonnaya who described the Speaker’s visit to Sen. Orji Kalu as being “patriotic” said Ubani has refused to grow in knowledge, but choose to live a life of a sycophant.

Chief Ogbonnaya who asked Ubani to shut up and face his job further said that the issues between the two former Governors “are personal issues that do not in any way obstruct with the administration of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu”.

He noted that if the former Governors, Orji Uzor Kalu and T. A Orji decide to settle, it is for the progress of Abia State as the polity will enjoy a peaceful environment and the State will be tension free.

The statement reads in parts,

“Few days ago, the social media was bombarded with the treacherous blackmail made by the Deputy Chief of Staff- Chief Don Ubani Okwubunka wherein he called on the Honorable Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Chief Chinedum Orji to resign as speaker or stand to be impeached because according to him, he paid a visit to the former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu with two of his uncles, including my humble self Chief Charles Ogbonnaya. In his letter, he alleged among other things that the Honorable Speaker does not have respect for the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu. He also stated that the Speaker alluded that Orji Uzor Kalu should come and take over the leadership of Abia State.”

“I find it very difficult sometimes to believe that most people have refused to grow in knowledge, but choose to live a life of a sycophant. It is true that a blackmailer cannot change irrespective of his position in the society. Let me make it abundantly clear to my friend Don Ubani Okwubunka that the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff which I served from 2008-2015 is an exalted office given to Loyal, Hardworking and respective Abians and not an office for blackmailers. No wonder you blackmailed your way to that position when you started writing and blackmailing the Governor Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on how he had no money and how you gave him money for his transport during his campaign.”

“Do you know the relationship that exists between the Governor and the Speaker, Do you know whether prior to that visit if the Speaker alerted the Governor? How come you concluded that the Speaker does not show respect to the Governor? Don please “Huru Ehuru”.

“Don as you are aware, I made that visit with Mr. Speaker and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The issues between the two former Governors are personal issues that doesn’t in any way obstruct with the administration of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu. If the two decide to settle, I believe it should be for the progress of the State as our polity will enjoy a peaceful environment and the State will be tension free.”

“The Speaker Engr,. Chinedum Orji did not invite Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to come and take over the governance of Abia State nor was it an invitation for Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu to take over the headship of the party PDP. No, not in any way or guise. The Speaker’s statement was a call on OUK my leader and our leader to assume his position as the Father of Abia modern politics which meaning is far deeper than the present antagonist is giving it.”

“The Speaker’s statement was for OUK to offer some constructive engagement with the State using his position in the Senate to attract development to Abia State. The Speaker’s statement was for OUK to put Abia first as the former Governor of the State and to bring his wealth of experience to bear an overall well-being of Abians.”

“Inviting the former Governor to take his position in Abia is a very patriotic call and the Speaker should be commended for his rare show of patriotism and love for Abia State and the Speaker deserves our praise for his concern for peace of the State as it takes exceptional courage and bravery to undertake a visit to an opposition Leader, and embark on the kind of troubleshooting mission he did.”

“Chief Obasanjo is rightfully referred to as the Father of politics in Nigeria today not because we do not have a President, but because of his leadership qualities. The Deputy Chief of Staff should stop looking for trouble where none exists. There is no atom of misunderstanding between the Governor of Abia State and the Speaker to the extent that there is a rift in the political family of PDP in the State. Like Me. Fusion the lead singer of Apostle’s Pop Band of Aba rightly said “Onye akporo-akpo nri n’asim na akpum ehile”. Chief Okwubunka should keep his mouth shut, keep quiet and face his job.”
