Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Monday, sworn in Hon. Barr. Cosmas Ibeziako Ugwueze as Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area.
Barr. Ugwueze who until his elevation was the Deputy Chairman of Nsukka LGA, was sworn in as the substantive Chairman of the Council by Gov. Ugwuanyi, following the death of the former Chairman, Chief Hon. Patrick Omeje, Jnr., in keeping with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The new Council Chairman, shortly after his swearing in, nominated Barr. Walter Ozioko as his Deputy which was unanimously approved by the 20 councillors.
Gov. Ugwuanyi, thereafter, swore in Barr. Ozioko as Deputy Chairman of the Council.
Speaking, Barr. Ugwueze, who said that “it is a solemn moment in the history of Enugu State because we have lost our chairman”, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for the confidence he has reposed in him and his deputy to steer the ship of the council.
The chairman promised the governor that the confidence will bring “dividends of trust and good governance, harmonious cooperation between the Executive and Legislative arms of government in Nsukka LGA and improved security of lives and property in our council area”.
While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Council Chairman, Barr. Ugwueze assured the governor that “I will not disappoint you and the people of Nsukka LGA”.
