A renowned Business mogul and philanthropist in Abia State, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, has joined other concerned citizens of Abia, family and friends of the state’s Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to wish him a quick recovery after he confirmed testing positive for COVID-19.

The former Chairman of Aba North local government council commended Ikpeazu for being open and reinforcing the key message for slowing down the spread of coronavirus, by deciding to self-isolate.

According to Ikwechegh, “Your Excellency, I am sorry to learn about your test result on the coronavirus. I join all concerned citizens of Abia State, your family and friends to wish you quick recovery from the virus.

“I pray to Almighty God to heal you and protect your family as you go through the self-isolation and proper treatments. Similarly I pray for the protection of our dear state from the COVID-19 scourge.”

Recalling how Ikpeazu cut his trip abroad and rushed back home to lead the battle to save the people from the virus, Ikwechegh expressed sadness over the governor’s coronavirus status at a time when he was needed most to fight the spread of the disease in the state.

“It was bad news for people of the state to hear that a pragmatic Governor Ikpeazu, who had earlier mapped out strategies to deal with the situation would be kept down in the fight to contain the spread of this dreaded disease in the state.”

Expressing optimism that the Governor would soon overcome the condition, the APC chieftain urged the people of Abia to pray for Ikpeazu to recover and bounce back to continue leading the fight against COVID-19 from the front.

The former council boss, philanthropist and business mogul, advised Abians to keep observing the safety measures against COVID-19 already reeled out by the state government and health professionals.

He appealed to people of the state, irrespective of their social status to obey the state government’s directives at all time to contain the spread of Conoravirus in Abia.

“COVID-19 is not a death sentence as it can be managed, people have recovered from it. We will get over this too, but we must continue to ensure that we follow all safety measures.

“Measures like hand washing, social-distancing and other recommended safety standards. As for all our health workers, we appreciate them for their front line role in the fight against the disease,” he said.

Hon. Alex Ikwechegh who is presently in London where he is keeping safe asked everyone to keep safe by observing all the rules released by the World Health Organisation and the government

He also commended the Abia State Government for the steps taken so far to curb the spread of dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in the Southeastern state.
