The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Barr. Paul Ohonbamu, has just resigned his appointment, Igbere TV reports.
The Commissioner tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor, through the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie.
Though the Edo State Government is yet to announce the resignation, a close source to the Commissioner, however, confirmed the development.
“Yes, it’s true (that the Commissioner has resigned), I just spoke with him,” the source, who pleaded anonymity, told Igbere TV Thursday afternoon.
Efforts to reach the Commissioner proved abortive, also spokesman to the Governor, Crusoe Osagie, did not reply text message sent to his phone.
Ohonbamu’s resignation comes weeks to the Edo All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries, in which his boss, Obaseki is seeking to fly the party’s ticket in the Sept. 19 governorship election.
Rumours are rife that the now resigned Commissioner had pledged loyalty to Adams Oshiomhole, Obaseki’s estranged godfather and national chairman of the APC. Both Obaseki and Oshiomhole have been at loggerheads for years now.
