BREAKING: Edo, Ondo Police Commissioners Redeployed Months To Election

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has redeployed no fewer than 10 Commissioners of Police, to various states, in a new redeployment exercise carried out Wednesday.

A statement exclusively obtained by Igbere TV listed those affected to include Edo and Ondo states CPs, where governorship elections are just few months away.

While the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Babatunde Johnson Kokumo now heads the Edo State Police Command, his colleague in Edo state, Mr Lawan Tanko Jimeta, goes to Bauchi State.

Igbere TV Edo correspondent reports that Kokumo is going to a familiar terrain, as he was in charge of the Edo Police Command, in 2017.

The Ondo State Police boss, Mr Undie J. Adie is now the Police Chief in charge of Osun state, while Mr. Bolaji Salami takes over from Adie.

Others are Oyo CP, Mr Shina Olukolu. He is now at the Police Anti-fraud Unit with Joe Enwonwu taking over from him at the Eleyele headquarters of the Oyo state police command.

Mr Philip Maku and Mr Ahmed Shehu have been appointed as CPs for Ebonyi and Gombe states respectively.

The only female CP appointed, Mrs Evelyn Peterside will take charge of Eastern Port, as CP Okon Ene is saddled with the unit of Explosive Ordinance Department, EOD.

Mr Bello Maikwashi goes to Airport Police command.

The IGP charged the newly posted officers to ensure they consolidate and advance the gains of their predecessors particularly in the implementation of community-policing, crime prevention, public security, public safety and general crime fighting.

The IGP also enjoined the citizens of the affected states to cooperate with the Commissioners of Police to enable them succeed in their new areas of responsibilities.

β€œAll the appointments take immediate effect,” the statement obtained by Igbere TV added.
