COVID-19: 62-Year-Old Woman Dies In Rivers Palliative Sharing Stampede

A 62-Year-Old woman has been stamped to death during a struggle for COVID-19 palliative shared by the Rivers state government in the Elele Kingdom, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State.

The deceased, identified as Mrs Florence Onuobodo arrived at the venue with the hope to receive the COVID-19 palliative.

However, due to impatience on the part of some other citizens, a stampede ensued and she was trampled upon by people who were also struggling to collect the food items.

A counsellor representing Elele, ward 4, at Ikwerre LGA Legislative Assembly, Emmanuel Amadi, while confirming the report, said it was unfortunate that the deceased died at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where she was rushed to.
