The Peoples Democratic Party has announced June 23 and 24, 2020 as dates for the conduct of its primaries to chose a candidate for the Edo State 2020 governorship election.
This was contained in a timetable and schedule of activities obtained by Igbere TV on Saturday, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akubundu (retd.).
According to the document, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will begin on Friday, May 29, while June 2 has been set aside as the last day for the submission of the forms.
Thursday June 4, is set aside for the screening of candidates and Saturday June 6 is the date fixed for the consideration of appeals emanating from the screening exercise.
Ward congresses to elect a three-member ad hoc ward delegates will hold on June 9 and appeals arising from the ward congresses will be entertained on Friday, June 19.
Local government congresses to elect one national delegate and persons with disability per local government is scheduled to hold on June 16.
Igbere TV reports that the Edo 2020 governorship election is expected to hold in August, as tenure of the incumbent Governor Obaseki comes to and end November 12.
The All Progressive Congress in the state is yet to announce modalities for its primaries. Mr. Obaseki is seeking a second term on the platform.
