Anambra Begins A Home-To-Home Search For Persons With COVID-19 Symptoms

IgbereTV reports that the Anambra state government has began a home-to-home search for persons with Covid19 symptoms in all communities in the state.

Governor Willie Obiano who made this known on Friday during a special statewide broadcast on the COVID-19 update, said that the NCDC, WHO and UNICEF have assured the state government of their support to ensure the success of the effort.

Governor Obiano therefore urged citizens of the state especially those in the rural communities to comply with the specially trained Covid19 team that would come to the hinterlands to collect samples for testing, noting that the team comprised competent medical professionals who can manage any case to success.

Governor Obiano also informed the people that government has set up two potential Covid19 testing Centres in the state and that the state earnestly request the management of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control to accredit as well as approve the facilities for the benefit of the people.

The governor maintained that all the boundaries with neighbouring states remained completely closed but emphasized that only those on essential services would be allowed entry after thorough checks and confirmations by security personnel stationed at the borders.

Governor Obiano said, “we are working very hard to seal off all bush Paths that are being exploited by unscrupulous transporters to the detriment of our beloved state.”

Governor Obiano equally informed the citizenry that all civil servants in Anambra state including primary and secondary school teachers would resume work next week Monday and that arrangements were ongoing to ensure that the teachers undergo a comprehensive Covid19 training in readiness for the eventual opening of schools at the appropriate time.

He said all markets shall reopen for normal commercial activities from Monday next week and that market leaders have also been trained on Covid19 safety / preventive measures; which they must deploy to ensure that friends, colleagues as well as customers comply with the standard protocols for covid19 prevention.

The governor who also reminded citizens of federal government’s proposed nationwide curfew from Monday next week to halt the community spread of coronavirus across the country, enjoined citizens to compulsorily comply with the aforestated directives as enforcement would be carried out vigorously, stating that no one will be spared.
