IYLN PRESS RELEASE.

12th April 2020.

Intellectual Young Leaders Network (IYLN) Congratulates Christian Faithfuls Globally And Advice Nigeria On System Of Governance

Intellectual Young Leaders Network (IYLN) Congratulates all Christian faithfuls in Nigeria on this Easter Celebration.

The IYLN enjoins all Christian faithfuls and Nigerians not to forget the real essence of Easter celebration which focuses on the love of Jesus Christ to humanity.

As Christians who believe that the death and resurrection of Christ has given us the ultimate power against evil and challenges us to love one and another, we therefore urge you all to use this season of special celebration to extend hands of love to our fellow citizens around us, most especially the less privileged in the face of this deadly virus called Covid 19 pandemic. Your prayers and intercession is most needed at this point in our society where humanity and existence is greatly threatened.

2: We also want to use this opportunity to remind the Federal Government and state governments of their primary roles as a governments which is the security and welfare of it’s citizens, especially in this hard time of COVID-19 pandemic. Hence:

a: While we commend the Federal Government in their various palliative measures, we are however concerned that these palliatives are being distributed among various segments in most uncoordinated manner and secrecy . This is to say that, some of these palliatives never get to the intended individuals and no trace of record of the beneficiaries. We therefore call for transparency in carrying out this exercise.

b: While we support the lockdown exercise accros Nigeria in order to contain this virus called Covid 19, we believe that there is need for the Federal Government to go beyond it’s current program of Conditional Cash Transfer and ensure that each Nigerian with BVN having less than N20,000 in his/her account recieve atleast N10,000 to cushion the effect of the lockdown, especially now that the lockdown is foreseen to be extended. We strongly believe that Nigeria as a country is capable of doing it if corruption is lay aside. This is what other serious countries are doing for their citizens.

c: We also wish to advise the government, that from henceforth to always be proactive in it’s decisions in safeguarding our territories and citizens. They do not have to wait on other nations before taking necessary measures to safeguard the country. This is because, we have observed that Nigeria and most African countries always wait on the Western countries to take decision before they decide on the lines of actions to take. For instance, why must Nigeria as a Sovereign country wait on USA and other developed countries to first place flight restriction on some countries with high risk of COVID-19 before Nigeria saw the need to do same, even as many prominent Nigerians advised FG to do so earlier when the virus has not found its way into the country?

3: The IYLN also condemn in totality the inhumane treatments melted to Nigerians living and doing businesses in China by the Chinese authorities over the COVID-19 pandemic as seen in the viral video on the internet. We demand that a comprehensive investigation be carried out on the issue with a view to prevent a repeat of such insult by the Chinese government again.

4: Lastly, we wish to advice that the Federal Government should sometimes pay attention to the cries and advices of Nigerian masses on critical issues before taking decisions, because IYLN will not condone any anti masses policy either from individual, group or government.

5: Once again, we wish our Christian brothers and sisters a happy Easter celebration.

6: Finally, the message from the desk of the National Chairman, Comrade Prince Akinola Adams to all Nigerians is to please; Stay Safe, Stay Home and Stay Alive. We shall come out of these together and stronger.

E-Signed
