Chief Kelvin Jombo Kalu Onumah, on Thursday, through his foundation,”Kelvin Jombo Foundation” embarked on sensitization about the deadly Coronavirus and also supported the efforts of the Abia State government by rolling out emergency relief materials and cash, worth over N10m towards cushioning the COVID-19 effect on members of his community.
Igbere TV gathered that Kelvin Jombo foundation equally supported the vulnerable mainly the aged and poor as he distributed relief materials worth millions of Naira, Protective Personal Equipment, PPE, to people in Abiriba, Abia State.
Among relief materials shared are 500 bags of 5kg rice, over hundred cartons of tin tomatoes, groundnut oil, maggi cubes, salt, toothpaste, mosquito repellent, 1,000 litres of kerosene, face mask, hand gloves and buckets with tap, among several others.
The foundation didn’t just stop there, a cash of N3m was equally shared among the sick, elderly, disabled and poor families to enable them meet up with the emergency situation that COVID-19 lockdown has brought upon the society.
Igbere TV gathered that the event attracted the local government Department of health led by Mrs Chinyere Nwankwo, the Head of the Department for health talks with focus on the COVID-19.
The distribution of relief materials was done at all the 17 villages that make up the Ancient kingdom of Abiriba, while adhering to safety precautions and limits set for health purpose.
In appreciation, the Enachioken of Abiriba, The Effa of Agboji, Ukpaghari of Amaogudu and the various village heads(Ezeogo) applauded the initiative of the foundation, and prayed for God to bless the founder, Chief Kelvin Jombo Kalu Onumah.
Also, the local Government Chairman, Hon Prince Fred Idika commended the foundation’s efforts and urged the people to maintain safety tips on COVID-19 to mitigate its spread.
