Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Sunday, warned that any Transition Council Chairman that allows vehicles and people not exempted from the ongoing lockdown to enter into the state through their jurisdiction will face immediate sanctions without further notice.
In a statement made available to Igbere TV by the Commissioner for Health, John Okiyi, Ikpeazu also directed that market leaders, including those of food and other items, that open or allow any market to open in defiance of the order on total lockdown will be sanctioned without further notice.
The statement added that those selling food and provisions are expected to abide by the guidelines of the COVID-19 Committee on masking and provision of water for hand washing as well as social distancing or risk being closed immediately.
The Governor directed that all pedestrians moving to buy food and other essentials must wear face marks or be turned back by enforcement agencies.

A team to monitor the activities of enforcement agencies and teams is hereby set up with the following members:
1. Hon. Dannie Ubani (Team Leader)
2. Ukpai Stephen
3. Kalu A. Orji
4. Steve Nwazuo
5. Ndubuisi Kalu C.
6. Enerenwa Kingsley
7. James Nnamdi
Members of the team are to report to the Secretary to State Government on compliance, alleged inducements and any other infractions.
The Governor appeals for understanding from all citizens in obeying the guidelines issued by the COVID-19 Committee led by the Secretary to State Government to enable the state prevent and control any possible spread of the virus.
