Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Prof. James Momoh, has tested negative to the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Igbere TV reports.
This was disclosed by Mr. Michael Faloseyi, Assistant General Manager (AGM), Government, External and Industry Relations in the NERC, in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Thursday.
He said Momoh had been given a “clean bill of health” having tested negative to the dreaded coronavirus, upon his return from the United States last week.
Anxiety had heightened earlier in the week over Momoh’s health status, following media reports that he was part of the Federal Government delegation to Germany and Egypt.
Some of those Momoh was said to have participated alongside with, including Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to the President, are now receiving medical attention after the meeting with executives of Siemens in Germany.
Breaking the news of his test result, Momoh said, “I have been tested negative to COVID-19. But let me say that this is a trying moment that requires our collective efforts. I will advise our media houses to hold themselves to the highest standards of professionalism.
“Rumours and misinformation can frustrate the significant efforts of the government, private sector, and the international community in combating this virus”.
He prayed for the healing of those receiving treatment having tested positive to the virus, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
Momoh who had been in isolation since his return from US last week, has, however, offered to complete the 21 days isolation period despite testing negative, Igbere TV reports.
