Coronavirus: Outburst by "Daughter" of Enugu Old Woman Mischievous, Malicious Rubbish - FFK

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has berated the purported daughter of the 70-year-old woman who tested ‘negative’ to coronavirus in Enugu state, but reportedly died a day after.

A trending story had surfaced online by one “Uche Ngwu” on Twitter, alleging that her mother died out of negligence and lack of adequate facilities at the Isolation Centre which has since turned out to false.

Reacting, chief Fani-Kayode expressed sadness that the said daughter of the woman could blame Enugu state government for her mother’s death, which was unconnected to the illness she was being treated for.

“Sad that the lady that tested negative to Covid19 in Enugu has died as a consequence of an unrelated illness. Even sadder is the ludicrous claim by her “daughter” that the Enugu State Govt is responsible for her death because they kept her in isolation. This is malicious rubbish!,” he tweeted.

Recall that the 70-year-old woman and United Kingdom returnee, who had earlier tested negative to the pandemic, was said to be a sufferer of hypertension, sugar issues, kidney diseases and other ailments.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Wednesday, health workers in Enugu said the conditions were poorly managed before she was brought to the state Isolation Centre, insisting there was no negligence on their part.

They said other “important tests” were equally carried out on the woman which showed her blood level was very low and needed transfusion, but “her son even refused to donate blood… but blood was sourced outside and later given to her.”

“These doctors and laboratory workers even collected sample from the throat of the woman for the main coronavirus test, hence there was no stigmatisation as the writer (“daughter”) claimed,” added the health workers.

Meanwhile, the alleged woman’s daughter has come out to say she has no relationship with the woman as earlier claimed, giving credence to the allegations that she is being used by the opposition to do hatchet job against the state government.

“…I’m not the victim, my mother is still well alive and even younger. I only tweeted for them because I feel that if it’s true, then proper attention should be given to the matter at hand. Thank you,” the supposed woman’s daughter backtracked.
