Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, on Tuesday, handed over a Toyota Hilux van to the Director General, Abia State Street Light Maintenance and Installation Agency, Sir Tony Ezebuiro, Igbere TV reports.
Speaking during the handover in Government House Umuahia, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere revealed that the Ikpeazu led administration has always remained passionate about lighting the streets of Abia, hence his commitment to the street lighting project.
The Chief of Staff noted that the action shows the beginning of a new journey to enhance and improve the economic activities in the State and also bring the crime rate to the barest minimum. While commending the Governor for his giant strides and achievements in the State, he noted his support and conviction in the Ikpeazu-led administration.
Receiving the keys to the vehicle, the Director General, Abia State Street light Maintenance and Installation Agency Sir Tony Ezebuiro, expressed his gratitude to the Governor noting that the Governor is one who is concerned about the yearnings of the citizens.
He hinted that the agency does not only see to the installation of street lights in the State but also liaises with other Federal and foreign agencies that intend to install street and traffic lights and ensuring that they are adequately maintained.
Sir Ezebuiro, however, regretted that the facilities lack maintenance noting that the agency is working hard to improve on its job and meet up with the dynamics in the society. He assured the Governor of his own support while he called on Abians to key into the leadership style of the governor.
