Gov. Dapo Abiodun addresses Sagamu killings again

Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has once again addressed the situation in Sagamu area of the state surrounding the death of Remo FC player, Tiamiyu Kazeem.

The Governor in his statement “Fellow Citizens of Ogun State, particularly the good people of Sagamu.  I address you today on the unfortunate death of Mr. Tiamiyu Kazeem, a rising star of Remo Stars FC, on Saturday, 22 February, 2020.”

He disclosed that he is sad over the deaths in Sagamu and has called the attention of the IGP, Muhammad Abubakar who has directed the AIG (South West) to investigate the case and make sure police officers involved are brought to book.

Gov. Abiodun disclosed that on Monday morning, the SSG led the delegation of the State to address the youth alongside Kabiyesi, Akarigbo, in the palace and further sued for peace. The youth agreed to embrace the entreaties of the government and those of Kabiyesi.

But some of the youths went ahead to take law into their hands as “they attempted to attack the Divisional Police Station, burn the police Armoured PersonnelCarrier (APC), and even loot the banks and local government headquarters. Regrettably, we understand that some fatalities were recordedthereby, which is also being investigated.”

He stressed that security has been beefed in Sagamu with assistance of the Nigerian Army and other security outfits.

The Governor called for peace and urged the people of Sagamu to go about doing their lawful business without any fear of molestation whatsoever.
