Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Tuesday attended the launching of Ichakporoko Foundation.
Igbere TV reports that family of Chief Michael Odo Abonyi, in Obollo Etiti, Udenu LGA, launched the Foundation in honour of their late father.
At the launch, Governor Ifeanyi , former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo and other speakers, harped on education as the most important investment in life, urging the benefiting students of the foundation to be focused and take their studies serious to be able to actualise their dreams as future leaders.
While identifying with the vision, mission and objectives of the foundation, which is to promote charity and assist indigent students further their education, among others, Gov. Ugwuanyi, who is one of the Trustees of the foundation, appreciated all those who have nurtured the idea to fruition “especially the illustrious children of this late sage”.
“I am aware that we have all been involved in various acts of charity, but the Ichakporoko Foundation provides us further opportunity to expand the frontiers of giving, service to humanity and social re-engineering”, the governor said.
Late Odo Abonyi is the father of the former Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Godwin Abonyi and a renowned Journalist/Columnist, Mr. Ike Abonyi.
