Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is currently in a closed door meeting with governors of the South-Western states at the State House in Abuja, Igbere TV reports.
The meeting, which took off immediately after the closing of the first National Economic Council (NEC) meeting this year, is expected to dwell on the controversies surrounding the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), codenamed Operation Amotekun.
As at the time of filing this report, the Attorney General of the Federation, (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, had joined the meeting.
It would be recalled the South-West states, led by the Chairman of their forum, Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, had on January 9, 2020, launched the regional security outfit.
However, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Malami, had described the newly launched security outfit as illegal and a violation of the Constitution.
Igbere TV reports that Malami’s verdict has been greeted with disapproval by leaders and opinion moulders from across the nation.
