…Honours gov with “Aka Na-Edozi Obodo 1 of Amurri”
In recognition of his remarkable achievements in their community and Enugu State, the people of Amurri Ancient Kingdom, in Nkanu West Local Government Area, on Saturday, conferred Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi with a Chieftaincy title of “Aka Na-Edozi Obodo 1 of Amurri”.
Conferring the chieftaincy title to Gov. Ugwuanyi, during the 10th Anniversary/Ofala Festival of the Traditional Ruler of Amurri Ancient Kingdom, HRH Igwe Charles Egbo Nwoye, the Monarch said that the people of the community were deeply indebted to governor for giving them a sense of belonging and remembering them after decades of neglect.
Igwe Nwoye disclosed that Gov. Ugwuanyi was the first governor, in the history of Eastern Region of Nigeria, old Anambra State, old Enugu State and the present Enugu State, to visit their community unannounced to identify and address some of their major challenges.
The Monarch pointed out the governor was also the first to bring infrastructural development to their land through the construction of the first phase of their road, saying: “You (Ugwuanyi) came and blessed Amurri”.
He told the governor that “the people of Amurri have taken you as our son”, stressing that “You are our son, even at end of your tenure as Governor of Enugu State and because we have a son that is a child of God and has entrusted Enugu State to the hands of God, Amurri is in the hands of God”.
Presenting the chieftaincy title of “Aka Na-Edozi Ogbodo 1 of Amurri” to Gov. Ugwuanyi, Igwe Nwoye explained that “he (governor) is the hand that fixes our community”, saying: “You have fixed Amurri; development has never reached Amurri until you assumed office; some of our primary schools have been rehabilitated; the Agbani-Amurri road has been fixed by you and you promised that you will complete it; the Amurri–Obeagu road has been reconstructed; you constructed bridges…and very soon rural-urban migration will be a history because all these amenities will lift this agrarian community”.
Responding, Gov. Ugwuanyi who thanked the people of Amurri for the honour, solicited for their continued support for his administration’s renewed efforts in advancing good governance and providing more infrastructural developments in the rural communities.
