Ekiosa Market Fire: Looters Return Stolen Goods As Ayelala Juju Invokes Curses

Some miscreants, who looted items during the fire incident at Ekiosa market in Benin, have returned the items after the traders invited Ayelala worshippers to invoke curses on those behind the fire and looters of their goods.

IgbereTV reports that on Monday the traders moved round the market with the Ayelala worshippers invoking curses on those who stole goods from the market while pretending to be helping them save their goods.

Recall that the market was recently razed by fire. While speaking to a delegation from Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, who paid a sympathy visit to the market, the President of Market Women Association, Mrs Blacky Ogiamien, said many goods had been returned by the thieves after the Ayelala visit to the market.

She said several items, ranging from bags of rice, roll of wrappers, cartons and gallons of groundnut oil and goats were dumped at different areas close to the market. Mrs Blacky said the Ayala worshippers were called following a similar fire incident at Satana and Oliha markets which also witnessed massive looting as traders were busy trying to salvage their goods. “They have started returning our stolen goods as we invited Ayelala people to rain curses on those behind the series of pains being inflicted on market women and other traders in the state.”

One of the traders, Mr Gentle Imuetinyan Usoh, said since Ayelala was called, they have started getting back some of their stolen goods “Many of my goods, which I thought were burnt by the fire, have been brought to the side of the market today. I still believe that other goods would be fully recovered.’’ Another trader, who sells second hand wares, said she was surprised when someone brought some of her goods saying that he collected the them from those that stole them. It was gathered that other items returned are goats, bags of rice, including money and television.
