IYLN Blows Hot Over N37b Approved For Renovation Of National Assembly, Vows To Protest

The Intellectual Young Leaders Netwrok (IYLN) South East Zone has reacted to the recently passed and signed 2020 Appropriation Bill particularly the approval of a whopping sum of N37bn for renovation of the National Assembly.

In a press release sent directly to Igbere TV, the publicity secretary of the Intellectual Young Leaders Network, southeast zone, Comrade  Tete Prince said it is worrisome that at such a critical time in our nation an unimaginable amount has been allocated for a project that will not have any impact on the general public when our education and health care system are in comatose.

In addition, he said the Zonal Executive Council has decided to mobilise her members and Nigerians in general to protest against such wasteful spending.

The press release reads:

Ref: IYLN/SE/1819

*Re: Approval Of N37bn by President Muhammadu Buhari for purported renovation of the National Assembly.*

The attention of the Intellectual Young Leaders Netwrok (IYLN), Southeast Chapter  has been drawn to a purported approval of a whopping sum of N37bn by President Muhammadu Buhari for renovation of the National Assembly.

Though, we received the purported news with a flimsy of hand because we believe that such thing is not possible especially under President Buhari whom many believe is allergic to wastefulness, corruption and mismanagement of public funds.

Nevertheless, if the rumor happens to be true, we are therefore using this medium to call on Mr President to retrace his step as such spending is the least problem of Nigerians at this present time. It’s even more worrisome that such amount can be approved for such a project when our education and health care system are in comatose.

It’s an abomination to approve such project of that amount in a country where 80% of her population are living below poverty level. A country where basic infrastructures are lacking.

Finally, we expect the presidency to clear the air on this purported rumor as soon as possible, else we shall mobilise Nigerians in the streets in protest of such wasteful approval and squandering of our common wealth by very few persons in Government.
