Rep Onyejeocha Reveals Secret Behind Her Success, As She Bags IgbereTV Award

Deputy Chief Whip of the ninth House of Representatives, Hon. (Barr) Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has declared that God Almighty is behind her success story at the National Assembly.

Igbere TV reports that Onyejeocha, who represents the good people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, made the declaration while receiving the Leadership Excellence Awards, 2019.

The Deputy Chief Whip was among the few distinguished Nigerians who recently bagged Igbere TV Awards. She was named the 2019 Best Female Legislator.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the federal legislator said she was overwhelmed and grateful to Nigerians and organizers of the programme.

“I feel good, I feel great and honoured to be one of the awardees of the prominent Igbere TV Leadership Excellence Awards,” she said, adding, “I dedicate the Award to God and all Nigerian women.”

On the secret behind her feat at the Parliament, in a society filled with women, Onyejeocha said, “the secret behind my success is God, that God is able to do exceedingly great things once you believe in Him. It is about God, not about hard work. Like the Bible says, “It’s not by he that runneth…,” so God has been faithful.”

On her advice to Nigerians, most especially the females, Hon. Onyejeocha said; “they should know God and accept Him as their Lord and personal saviour. The Bible says “seek first the Kingdom of God and every other thing shall be added unto you.” That has manifested in my life.

“To the young girls out there, don’t be deceived. No matter what people tell you, just clinch on to God. There is no two ways about it. There are certain things I can’t do even though they call me politician, which I am not in that essence. I grew up in a family that had values, and there are certain things I cannot do. So to ladies out there, don’t be deceived, you don’t just wake up and do things that will bring shame to your family. Do only things that will make you, your family proud, not those things that will make you hide when you see your mate.

“There are no short ways no success, take a look at your family values, background. Stick to your rules, once you are good, you are good to go. Nobody has anything to do with a girl who is not decent, don’t be deceived by what you see on social media. Reduce your Facebook friends. Yes, social media is good, but ensure you use it for something good.

Revealing how she ventured into politics, the lawmaker said she got there by “accident”.

Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was first elected member of the Federal House of Representatives in 2007, and later re-elected in 2015. Prior to that, she was the Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government and a Commissioner in Abia State. At the National Assembly, Onyejeocha became chairman of women in parliament and chairman of the House Committee on Aviation.

Onyejeocha holds a degree in Social Work/Community Development, a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy and a Master’s Degree in Shipping (Transport Management). She is an associate of the Chattered Institute of Shipping (ACIS), an associate of Institute of Personal Management (AIPM) and a member National Council of Women Society (NCWS).

Before now, Onyejeocha has bagged several awards which include the WAF-MDG- 2013 AWARD, International Service Award of the Rotary Club of Enugu, Authority Newspaper’s Outstanding Female Legislator (2016) and Pilot Newspaper’s Outstanding Female Legislator (2016).
