Mr. David Lyon, candidate of the the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the 2019 Bayelsa state governorship election.
Igbere TV reports that Lyon defeated Douye Diri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in six out of eight locals government areas in the state.
While the APC polled 352, 552 votes, the PDP candidate scored 143, 170.
Lyon’s victory makes it the first time an opposition party is winning the state. Since creation in 1996, Bayelsa has been governed by the PDP.
