Igberetv reports that an 18-year-old Nigerian, Oluwafemi Oyerinde, a freshman at the Kennesaw State University in Georgia was shot and killed outside his Stadium Village apartment around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, October 6. Oyerinde was a student of mechanical engineering in the University.
From Information made available to Igberetv, Oyerinde was said to be shot as a result of an argument over loud music.
After the incident, the Cobb County Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the man accused of killing Oluwafemi Oyerinde at the Stadium Village apartment complex.
Kashman Rael Thomas has been accused of assault and murder of Oyerinde. Two others, 18-year-old Khalil Bennett and 18-year-old Jarius Bonner, were also shot and wounded that day.
Substances suspected to be marijuana was later Thomas’ room when a search was conducted. Thomas was also charged with possessing over an ounce of marijuana.
Tammy Demel, KSU spokeswoman also confirmed in a statement that Oyerinde was a student of KSU.
She said: “It is with profound sadness that the University confirms the deceased victim, 18-year-old Oluwafemi Oyerinde, was an enrolled student at Kennesaw State University,”
A candle-light vigil by students was held in honour or Oyerinde at the Kennesaw campus on Monday, October 14.
