BREAKING! Edo 2020: Obaseki Sacks All Local Government Appointees

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has ordered the immediate sack of all political appointees in the eighteen (18) local government councils of the state.

Those affected are Secretaries to the 18 Council Chairmen, Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Personal Assistants.

Their sack comes barely 24 hours after some hoodlums attempted to attack the Benin city residence of the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, reports Igbere TV.

Both Oshiomhole and Obaseki have been at loggerhead since the controversial Edo Assembly inauguration, with the latter accusing the former of scheming to deny him second term ticket.

A source who pleaded anonymity, said the sack was to affect only those in Edo North, the National Chairman’s senatorial district, but had to be changed for fear of public outrage.

One of the affected appointees in Edo North senatorial district, Mr Osagie, confirmed the sacking to Igbere TV correspondent.

“Yes, it is true. We are now former [aides]. I was shock when I received my sack letter earlier today, no reason was given, no prior notice”, he lamented.

This is not the first time the governor will be sacking political aides in the state. Earlier this month, Obaseki sacked over 260 appointees in what is seen as a way to sweep non-loyalists out of his government ahead next year’s governorship election.

About four council chairmen, Eghe Ogbemudia (Egor) Hon Patrick Aguinede, (Esan-West) Alhaji Yakson Musa (Etsako-West and Alhaji Aremiyau Momoh (Etsako-East) have equally been suspended from government.
