As part of the activities marking the World Teachers Day, MTN Nigeria awarded three teachers e who emerged winners in the mPulse essay competition organised by MTN Nigeria in collaboration with National Association of Private Schools (NAPPS), Lagos State chapter, Igberetv reports.
In a statement from the leading African Telecom giant, it was said that the competition was organised to recognise and celebrate teachers and proprietors who are contributing greatly to the education sector of the country.
The statement reads: “To support the purpose, MTN organised an online essay competition for the teachers on the topic: ‘How Best to Improve Digital Education in Nigeria. About 50 entries were registered in the keenly contested competition as the top three entries were rewarded with cash prizes,”
It also said that Hauwa Muhammad Danjuma from Jolas Private School, Lagos came first and received a sum of N250,000 while Kalu Godwin who teaches at Hopebay College, Lagos came second and was rewarded with a cash prize of N150,000. It said that Amaka Mbaegbu from New Fountain Secondary School, Lagos came third and got a cash prize of N100,000. When interviewed, the winners expressed their gratitude to MTN and encouraged the telecom company to keep investing in the Nigeria education sector.
mPulse is a web platform created by MTN for teens and tweens to help complement and improve the standard of education in Nigeria.
