Officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Service has arrested former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Force, AbdulRashid Maina.
Maina, who was involved in N2.1billion pension scam, Igberetv reports.
Maina was arrested in a hotel in Abuja as he attempted running away by shooting at the DSS operatives who tried to arrest him.
He hid in a bulletproof car for several hours before he was forced out by the the officers. Maina was being monitored by the EFCC and DSS after it was learnt that Maina’s son was found to be in possession of a missing $1.7m belonging to Maina
Maina is being assisted by top government officials led by Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, from facing his crimes and prosecution following his embezzlement of N2.1billion pension fund.
Maina had in January 2019, secured a court order stopping the EFCC from declaring him wanted.
Justice Giwa Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court described as unlawful, the action of the EFCC in declaring Maina wanted.
Now arrested, Maina may face full prosecution.
