Why We Wish Our Presidents Dead ( A MUST READ)

When former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, died in June 1998, I was one of those who took to the streets to celebrate the nation’s liberation from his murderous grip. These days, I look back at that infamous Monday and wonder the point of rejoicing at someone’s death when none of us is beyond mortality. Abacha’s death, we know, resolved a conundrum and cleanly freed us from the bonds with which he held us. Also, given the timing of his death, it did in fact seem God heard Nigerians’ cries for liberation. However, death by natural causes is no punishment; it is one of life’s many realities.

Biafran Struggle: Charlie Boy Drops a Bombshell

I guess it about time I break my silence on this matter. From 1967 to 1970 my youth was scandalised with the horrors of the Nigerian civil war. I was never on the front line as a fighting soldier, but I was in the boys’ brigade transmitting from the naval headquarters then in Oguta. With the daily air raids and the smell of death all around us, we were thankful everyday we managed to stay alive. (more…)

Police Permit Not Required For Rallies in Nigeria – Femi Falana

THE Yorubas and the Igbos, two of the most resourceful, engaging and outgoing ethnic groups in Nigeria, are becoming implacable enemies. Increasingly, they seem to hate one another with pure hatred. I never appreciated the extent of their animosity until the social media came of age in Nigeria. (more…)

Abia Gov., Ikpeazu Awarded ‘Worst Governor’ for 2016 (Abians Lament)

By: Uche Nwosu

After my visit to Aba, Abia state during the yuletide, I can sadly say that we’ve made another terrible mistake in leadership! There is very little sign of good leadership in the state. Aba is an eyesore! Very dirty… Bad roads… severe hardship… God help us! The propaganda flagged-off roads have been abandoned after buildings have been demolished in Ibadan st, Ibere st, Agharandu st, etc. Ngwa road (New Market), Ohanku road and Obohia is a no go area. Street cultism is the order of the day. (more…)
