just in!! Another pro-Buhari rally ongoing in Umuahia

Hundreds of people under the aegis of Abia State for Buhari Group (ASBG) yesterday held another rally and prayer session over the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari.

They danced round the streets of Umuahia with placards carrying inscriptions such as ‘Killer of corruption is back’, and ‘Thank God our President PMB is Back in Good Health’.

In his sermon, Pastor Chigbo Agu said that there is every need for Nigerians to thank God for the safe return of Mr President.

Pastor Agu warned people against wishing other people dead, saying that it was against the tenets of Christianity for anyone to wish another person dead.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the group and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ikechi Emenike, said the people of the state are happy that President Buhari is back to the country in good health.

Emenike, who was represented by Dr Emmanuel Aguzie Ndukwe, recalled that many people had falsely claimed that the President was on life support machine.

The state coordinator of the ASBG, Engr Chris Okpechi, voiced support for President’s Buhari’s war against corruption.

He lauded the administration’s free feeding programme for pupils and the diversification of the nation’s economy.

Buhari Said He Would Not Seek Re-election – Minister

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari told members of his party before he was first elected that he would only seek one term, implying he did not intend at that time to run in 2019, the minister of women’s affairs told Reuters on Wednesday.

The comments by Aisha Alhassan could heighten uncertainty over whether Buhari plans to contest the next election. Buhari took power in 2015 but has been absent for much of this year due to illness. He is yet to say if he will seek a second term.

“In 2014/2015 he said he was going to run for only one time to clean up the mess that the (previous) PDP government did in Nigeria. And I took him for his word that he is not contesting in 2019,” Minister of Women Affairs Alhassan said.

Alhassan said in the interview she would resign if Buhari seeks re-election and would support former vice president Atiku Abubakar if he decides to run. Alhassan’s portfolio ranks relatively low down in Nigeria’s cabinet.

Abubakar was vice president from 1999 to 2007 as part of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari’s party, in 2014. She said Buhari made the comments in 2015 to APC members but gave no further details.

The president’s two spokesmen declined to comment on the minister’s remarks.

Buhari, 74, returned on Aug. 19 from three months of medical leave in Britain for an unspecified ailment. It was his second stint of sick leave this year following a break between January and March.

Many people say they doubt whether Buhari is well enough to serve another term in Nigeria, which is Africa’s most populous country and has the continent’s biggest economy.

“If today Mr. President says he is running in 2019 I will go to him respectfully and thank him for giving me an opportunity to serve and then tell him that I have to resign because my political father may be running,” said Alhassan.

I Am Not Afraid Of Sack, I Will Support Atiku In 2019- Buhari’s Minister Explodes

Aisha Alhassan, minister of women affairs, says she will support Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, if he decides to run for office in 2019.

Seun, The Victim of Buhari’s Hate Speech (Photos)

“Pray for me Uncle. They are coming for us at the police station and the policemen are running away. They are about setting the station on fire. Please pray for me.”

These were the last words of Adewunmi Seun Paul, a graduate of political science and native of Imojo-Ekiti, Ekiti State. He was one the youth corps members killed in Bauchi on April 19, 2011. He was actually calling the then Venerable (Now Bishop) Samuel Ojo who was then Provost of African Church Cathedral, College Road, Ifako, Ogba, Lagos. That is where I worship.

Seun did not just die. He was killed. Gruesomely killed. Ironically, no one was put on trial for his death and those of others. They were: Teidi Tosin (Kogi), Adowei Elliot (Bayelsa), Okpokiri Obinna (Abia), Gbenjo Ayotunde (Osun), Ukeoma Chibuzor (Imo), Nwazema Chukwuonyerem (Imo), Adeniji Jehleel (Osun) and Akonyi Sule (Kogi).

Some of those who killed these lights of their families probably walk free on the streets of Bauchi today shouting “Sai Baba”; the same thing eye witnesses said they were shouting as they macheted Seun and his colleagues to a most painful death!

If today hate speech (or anything close to it) has become an offence, Seun and his colleagues were killed because someone lost an election he was never destined to win in the first place and resorted to hate speech!

Candidate Mohammadu Buhari of the now defunct CPC had worked his supporters to believe that he could only lose the election if it was rigged, they went on rampage and targeted NYSC members. It was in same Bauchi that he told his frenzied supporters:

“Let us get the Kafri out of Ask Rock.”

Till tomorrow, Buhari never condemned the violence. In fact, he more or less goaded them on. Baboons were really soaked in blood as he said in his “love” (not hate) speech. Yet, hear same Buhari in 2017:

“Opposition does not mean hostility, enmity or antagonism. Democracy needs opposition, one which is vibrant but responsible.”

As we continue this debate on hate speech, we need to know where we are coming from. Let those people, especially Yorubas, who could die for Buhari go and visit Seun’s still agonising mother and pray:

Then I will know they really love their man!

Note: Photos show a distraught Seun’s mother (left) after the news of son’s death was broken to her. Second picture is Seun in his NYSC kit.

Buhari Must Learn How To Listen To Advice To Aviod What Is About To Happen – IBB

Former Military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida in a rare interview with a team from Zero Tolerance (ZT), a quarterly magazine published by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, at his Hill Top mansion in Minna, Niger State, reminisces on why he led a coup that toppled the regime of Muhammadu Buhari and why he approved the killing of his bosom friend, Mamman Vatsa.

Excerpts from the interview seen by Premium Times, Babaginda said: “We planned a coup towards the end of 1983 that truncated the democratically elected government and the military government came in January 1984. Then that government also suffered the same fate as the democratic government when the military staged one of the finest coup in this country, because there was no blood, nothing was lost, smooth and everybody was treated with the most civility and our administration came.

“When we came in August of 1985 there was a plan to kick us out in December 1985, it didn’t work, they went into operation again in 1990. I think the country was going through a phase at that time, it’s a developing country and we always had one reason or the other for doing what we did at that time”.

On his alleged rift with Gen Buhari, IBB said: “A coup or change comes about if there is frustration in the society. Just get that right. There was frustration in the society between 1984 to 1985. The ground was fertile for a coup. It wasn’t fertile, thanks be to God, in December, 1985 when the first attempt on me was made

“Neither was it fertile in April 1990 when the second attempt was made and we had the support of all of you sitting down here. You write, you analyze, you talk, and you demonstrated. It was not unusual then to hear, in the case of the democratically elected government in1983, a common phase was ‘the worst military regime is better than this government’’.

“So you were giving us the impetus to stage a coup. We are not dummies. If we didn’t have the support of all of you, we wouldn’t venture into it.”

On his alleged wealth, IBB simply replied that he lived on his pension. On corruption in his government IBB said: “Back in 1986, Cooperative Boards as we knew them then was an institution bedeviled by corrupt practices. An ordinary farmer brings his products, the board is there to assess it as either grade one ,two or three.

“A lot of things went wrong, so what we did was to encourage the farmer to go to the end users, negotiate. The end user will also inspect what you have. So the farmer is talking to you directly, no middle man or anything because the corruption starts where the middle man is.

“Once you have identified areas that are prone to corruption, the next thing is to eliminate them and get the people educated. In the case of foreign exchange for example, you needed to go to the Central Bank or to the banks before you could get foreign currencies but by establishing the bureau de change, you could walk in there, exchange the money and put it in your pocket, go on with your business and you are not robbing anybody.

“One of the things to avoid, especially in government institutions, is too much control, where there is a lot of control corruption easily manifest itself. So you look at where there is a lot of control, try to do away with it and then things will work for the people”.

“Buhari Hasn’t Recovered Fully…” – UK Government

Paul Arkwright who is the British High Commissioner to Nigeria has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari hasn’t fully recovered from his illness but he is fit to carry on the responsibilities of his office.

The British envoy has stated this during an interview with Vanguard in Abuja, saying: “I had a privilege to meet President Buhari in the Villa. I was one of the small numbers of Ambassadors who were invited to witness the signing of treaties and MoUs between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“What I can say is what I saw. I saw a President who was fit; he was fine; he was cheerful; he had a great sense of humour. It was great to see him.

“President Buhari greeted me very warmly and I shook his hand. Frankly, it was just brilliant and great to see him back to work in full capacity.”

Fani-Kayode Explodes, Insist on Buhari Resign

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has urged elder statesmen in the country to ask President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and attend to his health.

Fani-Kayode said this in an interview with Punch on Thursday.

He said,  “The strong and fearless Buhari Nigerians used to know would never be the same again.”

He said there was no way the Buhari Nigerians used to know will be chased away from his office by rats.

The former minister said, “I did say the President was not going back and I maintain that position. I have no apology for saying so because the Buhari we are seeing today is not the Buhari that we knew and saw before.

“The Buhari that we saw before was a man of courage, strength, hero of Chad and a man that we all respected and revered. He led our troops to Chad in 1979/1980 and gained a lot of ground.

“The Buhari that we knew before was a man that vied for the Presidency on three separate occasions, kept coming back and succeeded on the fourth attempt. He was a man of courage and strength; but the Buhari that came back is not the same man.

“Having been away for a 104 days; instead of standing his ground and taking care of his health, he scampered back the following morning because he couldn’t take the criticisms and the embarrassment before the international community. That is the new Buhari, not the old Buhari.”

He called on those who truly loved the President to tell him the truth by asking him to resign.

Osinbajo Stylishly Throws Shade at Buhari Over His UK Medical Leave

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has decried the enormous amount of money Nigerians spend on medical tourism in other countries.

He made this known on Thursday in an opening remark at the commencement of a two-day national health dialogue organised by the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism, PTCIJ, the Project for Advocacy in Child and Family Health, PACFaH, and the Project Pink Blue.

The event held at the Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja.

The health dialogue was chaired by the vice president, and hosted by the Minister for Health, Isaac Adewole.

The Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II; acting Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance scheme, Attahiru Ibrahim; the DG of the National Agency for the Control of Aids, NACA, Sani Aliyu; the executive director, Nigeria Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Faisal Shuaib, were among keynote speakers at the health dialogue.

In his speech, Mr. Osinbajo, represented by the director general, Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, said medical tourism has cost Nigeria billions of dollars.

“We want to stop that trend because it is draining our reserves,” he said.

Thousands of Nigerians travel abroad each year to seek medical treatment as the nation’s health care system remains poorly funded.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday returned from London after nearly four months of medical leave.

The administration has not disclosed the president’s condition or how much is spent treating him, but analysts estimate Nigeria spends several millions of naira for the president’s healthcare abroad.

Mr. Osinbajo said healthcare for Nigerians is important to the Buhari administration.

He explained that the president was interested in health issues, but said poverty was also a major issue to look at.

He urged the states to also join in so as to ensure universal health coverage in the country.

Work Begins At The Presidential Villa In Abuja After Rats Chased Buhari Out of Office (Photos)

Guess the rodents will not have a place to invade again. Work has begun in earnest at the presidential villa in Abuja following the return of president Muhammadu Buhari. It was reported that the president will work from home after rodents damaged his official office during a more than 100-day overseas medical absence.

According to the president’s media adviser Garba Shehu, the animals damaged furniture and air conditioning fittings in the president’s official Abuja office while he was in London receiving treatment.

Now, work has begun in major parts at the Aso Rock Villa.

Those Criticizing Buhari About Restructuring Must Watch It – Presidency

The Presidency has advised proponents of restructuring to exercise restraint in their choice of words, saying issues are resolved through “established processes, not by abuses, insults or irresponsible statements’’.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Shehu was reacting to opinions expressed by Nigerians for and against President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on Monday on his return from a medical vacation.

He said that the call became imperative to avoid heating up the polity and causing acrimony across the country.

The presidential aide said that majority of the citizens welcomed the broadcast, and condemned those criticizing the president for not responding to calls for restructuring of the country.

He said that the president had no power to impose restructuring on the country by military dictate.

Shehu explained that National Assembly members were the elected representatives of the people who could handle agitations for restructuring and other constitutional changes.

According to him, the president is constitutionally bound to work with the national assembly to deal with such complex issues.

He reminded the critics that Buhari would not exercise arbitrary powers or bypass the legislature in taking such fundamental decisions.

Since we’re all being childish…

Since the presidency is taking us all on a ride and selling us an idiotic story about rats infesting the Nigerian president’s office…

Senator Shehu Sani of the weaker animals fame has penned an ode to the powerful rodents that have kept the President away from his workspace, and we love it.

Rodents of the Villa
Thee art blessed unlike Rodents of Nyanya
Rodents of the Villa
Thee art privileged unlike Rodents of Ajegunle
When Thee art in AC
They art in heat
When thee eat crumbs of croissants
They eat crumbs of cassava
When thee eat splash of Yoghourt
They eat splash of Akamu
When thee eat pieces of Corned Beef
They eat pieces of kpomo

Tom and Jerry mouse chased Lion King from Office – Asari Dokubo (WATCH VIDEO)

Niger Delta leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo has mocked President Muhammad Buhari, saying that it was obvious God had rejected him, as even the rats ejected him from his Aso Rock office.

Dokubo said APC had no shame by relaying that information to the pubic until it was even carried by British news service, BBC.

In a video he posted to social media, Dokubo is seen laughing.

He says, “Nigeria is really a theatre of the absurd. See how things happen? Rat where chop our budget for 2016. The same rat has chase the president from Aso Rock.

“They said the Lion King has come ooo! All of us shuld go and hide. Na im the rat challenge, say who will bury the cat. That’s how the smallest mouse like Tom and Jerry pursue Buhari from the office.

“Come dey eat everything for Buhari office, eat the air condition. And shame allow them talk am outside, na em dem carry the news for BBC. Shame no dey catch dem.

“They don’t have any excuse to give but rat.

Dokubo said it was because Buhari has been rejected by God, and that is why everything in Earth will reject the person until even rat has rejected the person.

“Do you want to continue to be like Pharoah and harden your heart instead of you to walk away peacefully, now that people don’t know you are a con man par excellence?” Dokubo added.

Nigeria A Joke: First Was hyenas, then rats: Unto the snakes next?

Senator Shehu Sani could not have envisaged the spiral he would be setting off when he made that Facebook post about hyenas and jackals in the second week of July.

While President Buhari was still in London and the tide in the country seemed to be rising against Vice President Osinbajo from his confrontations with the Senate, Senator Sani’s post was followed up by the prayer of First lady Aisha Buhari on behalf of “the weaker animals’ that the Lion King will come back and put the jackals away.

As it would happen, it has been Buhari himself who has been put on hold from using his office by rats which are really weaker animals, aren’t they?

The use of the metaphors of an animal kingdom to describe the evolving politricks at Abuja has not maintained a logical flow, thanks to these rats which have gained the angst and beastly reputation that should be reserved for more destructive animals. But that may, in fact, be the metaphorical explanation for the events happening at the Aso Rock right now; those who are feared and expected to cause the most trouble are not doing so, with the unsuspected and trusted taking the initiative to make inroads.

But the proper identifier for those who show such cunning should be snakes, and a President who has intentions to retain his mandate in less than two years time in the midst of other popular candidates within his own household cannot be naïve to the presence of crawling elements.

While President Buhari was airborne and making his way to Nigeria, readers were on this platform nodding to the opinion piece by Dele Momodu on the postures of 2019. Some of those persons mentioned in that piece have sent their congratulatory messages to the Villa to commemorate the President’s return, with victory rallies organized in one or two states.

Snakes are not domestic animals and they are very able to help the housekeeper scare the rodents away. But they could easily turn on the keeper, when the grass on the outside becomes too grey for comfort.

This is The Real Reason Why Buhari Canceled FEC Meeting Today at The 11th Hour

The last is yet to be disclosed about the unexpected suspension of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
While the President’s special adviser on media and publicity insists that Buhari jettisoned the meeting to receive the report of the committee investigating allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, it has emerged the President has instead grown weary of some of his underperforming Ministers.

Mr President is bent on re-jigging his team in the face of growing agitations across the country, and the need to reposition ahead of 2019.

According to insider sources, a good number of the current Ministers are on their way out and the President wanted to allow ample time, following his return, for them to put their various Ministries in order for new appointees.

Having learnt from his delayed appointment of the Ministers upon the assumption of his presidency, Buhari is also said to be disposed to have ready and competent replacements for those that will get the sack.

Top among the Ministers that may likely go are Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, FCT Minister, Muhammadu Bello and Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun.

Others include Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, Defence Minister, Dan Ali and Minister of Water Resources Suleiman Adamu.

In Fashola’s case, it is considered that the combination of critical ministries has become too burdensome for his supervision. While he may yet be retained, it is believed that he will be assigned to supervise only a section of the now combined Ministry as the Executive considers a reversal to the initial ministerial structure.

The current FCT Minister is most likely to be axed as a source claimed he has been “largely absent and redundant” while the FCT under his watch has plunged into “darkness and dirt.”

The source further said that Kemi Adeosun’s was a simple matter of the Ministry of Finance being bigger than the Minister of Finance. A claimed that trailed her appointment and has plagued his performance with the economy is still grappling with recession.

Also, the latest upsurge of the Boko Haram insurgency and other security challenges has forced the President to consider changes in the political leadership of the armed forces with Brig. Gen. Dan Ali (Rtd) certain to see the exit door.

Inconsistency in education policy and claim that the administration planned to ban Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) has cost the President goodwill amongst Christian faithful’s. As a strategy towards securing that critical base, the President’s hammer may fall on the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

Labour Minister, Chris Ngige may have also seen his last days in the Ministry, with the resurgence of sundry labour agitations not helping his continued stay while the mixed fortunes of the various national sports teams in recent times, may have finally caught up with Minister for Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung.

If the cabinet reshuffle happens before the next FEC meeting, Nigerians may see the likes of former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and former deputy governor of Plateau, Pauline Tallen.

Oshiomhole is highly preferred to head the Labour Ministry to halt the emergent labour agitations from snowballing into an unwanted political setback for the APC going into 2019.

Mrs Tallen has remained within the radar of possible appointments by the President after she maturely turned down her ambassadorial nomination in 2016 over the need for political “balancing of appointments” and her now late husband’s poor health. The expected exit of Dalung should pave way for her appointment as she is very highly considered among presidency circles.

Meanwhile, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu is also set to emerge the substantive Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), in a move by the Presidency to douse separatist agitations in the South-East and to also reward his long-standing loyalty to the APC.

Osun: Osinbajo, Aregbesola, Others To Attend Special Prayer For Buhari

Vice President, Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo, Mrs Aisha Buhari and many other eminent Nigerians are expected to attend a special prayer organised for President Muhammodu Buhari in Iwo, Osun State, tomorrow, August 24.

OSUNDEFENDER gathered that members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), state governors, traditional rulers and religious leaders are also expected to attend the prayer organised by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi.
Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola is expected to lead top government functionaries to the event.
Oba Akanbi in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibrahim indicated that the prayer scheduled for his palace was intended “to seek the face of Allah for sound health for the president and a direction for the nation’s sustainable socio-political and economic development.”
He said the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, would be the chairman on the occasion, while the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, would lead other religious leaders for the prayer.

BREAKING!!! Biafrexit: Buhari Orders Military to Monitor Social Media Over IPOB’s Activities

Director of Defence Information, Major-General John Enenche, told Channels Television that he became necessary in the light of troubling activities and misinformation capable of jeopardizing the unity of the country.

His comments come less than 48 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari said in his national broadcast that some of the discussion on social media in his absence crossed the line and left him distressed.

For Major General Enenche, the social media has always been a challenge all over the world and for the military, it is no different.

“It is a double-edged sword and we are also having a bit of it,” he said when he appeared on Channels Television’s News At 10, hours after President Buhari met with service chiefs and ordered them to strengthen their operations.

“Imagine when the President came back and addressed the nation, not up to 30 minutes later, a fake speech of the Commander-In-Chief was being circulated in order to do what? To derail the people. If you are not very sharp and if you didn’t listen to the speech or you don’t have a copy of it like I had it almost immediately, you wouldn’t know. So, looking at it from that perspective, it is a challenge everywhere.”

Having observed the possibility that the social media can be misused the military has taken steps to address that. One of such steps is the establishment of strategic media centres.

“What are we doing? In the military, we are now taking on it more seriously than ever. We have our strategic media centres that monitor the social media to be able to sieve out and react to all the ones that will be anti-government, be anti-military, (and) be anti-security,” the military chief continued.

“We tackle them appropriately with appropriate responses. Ahead of that, we are also proactive. We have measures in place, scientific measures to be able to sieve this information and also to get the public and let them know that some of this information they are getting is not genuine are not true and their objective is an anti-corporate existence of this country.”

There has been a rise in attacks by Boko Haram terrorists and it is one of the things the President advised the service chiefs to check. While the military intends to do just that, Major General Enenche said what they terrorists are doing is not surprising.

He said, “Like I have said before, it is not unexpected being that they have been degraded, decimated and really busted at camp zero and other cities there through the air bombardment and raids by members of the military, particularly the army. So you will see them spreading out like ants that have been busted from an anthill.”

According to him, the terrorists have benefitted in their attacks from the unending collaboration by insiders and sympathisers among the residents in the North East.

“However, I want to assure the general public and Nigerians that measures are in place to begin to take on them and begin to take them out. However highly placed anyone is or any insider or collaborator is, we are on top of the situation and we are beginning to get our information to begin to handle them appropriately,” he said.

Buhari: Why presidential broadcast was illegal – Lawyer (MUST READ)

An Abuja based human rights lawyer, Hamid Ajibola Jimoh has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari committed illegality by addressing Nigerians.

Buhari spoke to Nigerians on Monday, two days after he arrived in Abuja from his prolonged medical vacation.

Reacting, the legal practitioner said the broadcast was in breach of Section 145 (1) of the Constitution, which stipulates a transmission of letter to the National Assembly before the president carries on with his duties.

He declared the broadcast “invalid, null and void”, insisting that as at the point Buhari gave his speech, the legislature had not been formally notified of his return.

“I am of the view that the President should apologise to Nigerians for contravening the provision of the Constitution if it is not a deliberate act. Law is different from morality, emotion or politics.

“After that, the president may now address the nation properly according to law now that he has transmitted a letter of written declaration to the National Assembly.

“The principle of rule of law and constitutionalism is that everybody must be bound by the law. It is the supreme law. If we just close eyes on him we may be laying a bad precedent where any other person will just disregard the law. Of what use is law when they are not obeyed?

“Anything the President did prior to the transmission of the written declaration is null and void. The president, by the provisions of Section 24 of the Constitution is duty bound to abide by the Constitution,” Daily Trust quoted him as saying.

Biafrexit: The Only Option Before Buhari Now to Stop Nnamdi Kanu

By a concerned Nigerian

I am not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu.Infact I once called him a scammer and still believe that if Biafra is actualized,Nnamdi Kanu’s plan would be for him to be emperor for life, with dictatorial tendencies.

However, its only a fool that won’t realise that by omission or commission,Nnamdi Kanu has become a formidable force with an ardent followership, thus confronting him or any wing affiliated to IPOB would only make him more popular and may eventually turn him to a cult figure.
Kanu’s ego needs to be massaged and a deliberate and proactive step taken to reintegrate the Ibos in the mainstream of governance.

The position of SGF now vacant and other strategic ones that will soon become vacant is a golden opportunity and a window of opportunity for any sensible goverment to gradually and deliberately make the Ibos start feeling a sense of belonging.

IPOB and Kanu can at this late hour only be defeated by ideology and deliberate inclusiveness, not any archaic throwback to military confrontation of any arm of IPOB.

These senators are not foolish.Perhaps a few of the intellectual and deep thinking ones are seeing the trajectory Kanu is charting and have eaten the humble pie to acknowledge him as a formidable force to be reckoned with, distasteful as it sounds.

At His Age, When Would Buhari Stop Lying?

By: Amaechi K. U.

Am just wondering why should Ojukwu belittle himself to visit Buhari in a little known town of Duara to discuss Nigerian unity. Buhari lied against Ojukwu, the truth has been vindicated, Ojukwu and Buhari are not on the same academic pedestal.

Ojukwu was an Oxford trained graduate, Buhari is not. Ojukwu was a graduate soldier, Buhari was not. Ojukwu like Azikiwe, Nelson Mandela, mahatma Ghandi etc was a charismatic leader, Buhari is not. Ojukwu growing up enjoyed life as a silver spoon kid, Buhari did not. During the war, while Ojukwu was a general, Buhari was a lieutenant. If Buhari claimed that he had an agreement with Ojukwu that Nigeria will one, why was there no press release after the so called meeting?

Did Ojukwu secretly travel to Duara without informing members of his family? How can the two of them discuss issues bothering on Nigeria’s unity without involving other ethnic groups that made up Nigeria?

At the time he (Buhari) claimed to have had the meeting with Ojukwu both of them were not leaders of any of the two ethnic groups of igbo and hausa. Simply put,Ojukwu was one of the opinion leaders of the East and Buhari represents same in the North. Non of them can take decision for their regions without involvement or support of other leaders or the masses.

So Buhari goofed to have claimed that he had agreement with Ojukwu that Nigeria will remain one, with obvious reference to the fact that Igbos will remain part of Nigeria. This is a clear case of me an igbo man inviting Alhaji Umaru my hausa friend or leader as the case may be to my home town and after a lengthy discussion on Nigeria’s way forward, we agreed that federalism is the best system for Nigeria.

Some years later i became the president of Nigeria, as a result of my bad policies that put the north in a disadvantaged position they started to protest against it and calling for division of the country and i quickly reminded them of the private meeting i had with the late umaru, one of their own, which they are not aware of, that they must remain part of Nigeria.
