See What Pep Guardiola Said To Mourinho After His Painful Exit From Man Uinted

Pep Guardiola says is he is sad for Jose Mourinho and wishes him all the best. Mourinho was sensationally axed as Manchester United boss on Tuesday morning, less than 48 hours after his side’s damning 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

The Portuguese had led United to second place in the Premier League last term, but has struggled to get the best out of his players this season.

United currently sit in sixth, some 19 points behind league leaders and arch rivals Liverpool.

“Well when it happens I am always sad for the managers,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “We are alone. So when that manager is in that situation it is no good, we are alone.

“I am close to all of the managers. “But of course he doens’t need me, he is so strong. I wish him all the best and soon he is going to come back and we are going to play again.”

A club statement read on Tuesday morning read: “Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.

“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.

“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.”

Former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as the favourite to replace Mourinho on an interim basis.
