Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom is finally set to 2019 appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly on Wednesday, November 14.
This was made known by Speaker Onofiok Luke following a letter addressed to the Speaker by the governor and read on the floor of the House by the Clerk, Mrs Mandu Umoren at Tuesday’s plenary.

The bill set for presentation is expected to define the policy directions, expenditure patterns, and expected sources of revenues to fund government projects and services in the coming year.
Meanwhile, the House has confirmed the appointment of Antigha Okon Isong as Commissioner 1 in the Assembly Service Commission.
Isong’s confirmation followed the successful screening of the nominee by the House’ ad-hoc Committee on Judiciary, Justice Human Rights and Public Petitions led by by its chairman, Mr Aniefiok Dennis.
Governor Udom Emmanuel had requested the House to confirm Isong’s appointment in a letter he forwarded to the legislature on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Dennis, while presenting the report of Isong’s screening at plenary, said he (Isong) met the constitutional requirements for his appointment and will add value to the administrative machinery of the state.
Until his appointment, Isong, an accounting graduate of the University of Calabar, was Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects.
Also, the house received a motion on unfair practices said to have been perpetrated by oil giant, ExxonMobil, its affiliates and contractors, sponsored by Mr Nse Essien, the member representing ONNA state constituency.
While presenting the motion, Mr Essien said ExxonMobil Nigeria, its affiliate companies, contractors and sub-contractors have, among other things, refused to reciprocate the good gestures of operating in a peaceful environment and also failed to pay revenues to relevant authorities.
“ExxonMobil Nigeria, it’s affiliate companies, contractors and sub-contractors have failed, neglected and/or refused to reciprocate these good gestures by complying with extant laws of the land, established community relations principles and practices as well as rules of decent conduct and engagements in oil and gas value chain, particularly in the area of employment of indigenes of their host communities, training, development projects, and implementation of Local Content Law”, Essien said.
The Speaker referred the motion for further legislative action.
