Report reaching IGBERE TV says The leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky and his wife, have arrived Kaduna State High Court Amidst heavy tight security.
IGBERE TV learnt court will today rule on the bail application filed by their counsel.
The Shiite leader is facing trial over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among other charges.
El-Zakzaky and his wife were first arraigned on May 15, 2018, following their arrest in Zaria, in December 2015.
When the matter came up for hearing on October 4, 2018, the presiding judge, Justice Gideon Kurada adjourned his ruling on their bail application to November 7, 2018 due to the absence of the IMN leader and his wife in court as a result of the visit of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the state on that date.
The judge however fixed today for the ruling following the written application filed by El-Zakzaky’s counsel during the last sitting on August 2, 2018.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has restricted movement in Kaduna metropolis over the trial today.
The police warned that the ban on all forms of demonstration or processions is still in full force and called on Kaduna residents to beware of their movement
