Fayemi Set To Reform the Teaching Profession.

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State is set to reform the Educational Sector in the Fountain of Knowledge and the Land of Honour most especially as it relates to the Training and Retraining of Teachers for a better, efficient, reliable and productive performance in both the Public Primary and Secondary Schools in the State.

It is no longer a news that the only State Institution specifically established by the State Government to prepare and groom future Teachers in the State is the College of
Education situated at Ikere Ekiti.
As part of the determination of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to reposition the State Tertiary Education training the teachers in Ekiti State, a special Visitation Panel has been set up and sent to the Institution to know its current state of affairs in line with the Executive Order 004 of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi signed by him on Monday October 29th, 2018 as well as the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti Law 2007 which provides that the Executive Governor reserves the right of the Visitor to the College as it has been conferred on the Executive Governor whose discretion it is to decide whether he is to conduct a Visitation to the College in person or by proxy.

Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State going by the Press Release circulated on Tuesday revealed the members of the Visitation Panel to the State as approved by the Governor to include Professor Oluyemisi Obilade standing as the Chairperson for the Panel while Mr. Sola Ogunmuluyi is to be the Secretary of the Panel.

Other members of the Visitation Panel are Professor Craig Obafemi, Professor Kola Oladunmoye, Professor Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi, Dr. Patrick Ajila, Dr. Femi Akinola and Mr. Ayo Aroge.

The mandate given the Visitation Panel by the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi are expected to ensure a detailed inquiry into the level of the implementation of the White Paper on the last Visitation Panel Report in 2007; to evaluate the leadership quality of the College in terms of the roles of the Governing Council, the Provost and other Principal Officers; to examine the financial management of the College including Statutory Allocations and Internally Generated Revenue over the recommended period and determine whether it was in compliance with appropriate regulations and laws of the College and to investigate the application of funds, particularly special grants, loans meant for specific projects in order to determine the status of such projects and their relevance for further funding, to examine the general security in the College, how the College has dealt with it and recommend appropriate measures to deal with it. The Visitation Panel has a period of four weeks to submit its report, findings and recommendations to the Governor for necessary and further action.
