"We Are Ready To Fight You" - Umahi Tells New Police Commissioner Face To Face

David Nweze Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State has threatened to resist any attempt by the opposition parties to use the new commissioner of Police and other security operatives in Ebonyi to fight his administration, especially during the 2019 general election.

Umahi made this known while addressing the new commissioner of police CP, Musa Kimo who paid him a courtesy visit at the government house, Abakaliki.

“Here in Ebonyi state, we are prepared to resist any security outfit that is out to undo our people, we will not agree.

“When you were to come, I was fighting that you should not come because I was told that oppositions are boasting that they are the one bringing you (CP) to fight us. And we were ready to fight you and we did all we can so that you do not come.

“Not that we have powers to stop you, but we have to make some moves to know your pedigree. We have to relax to wait and watch because in this part of the world, you see the opposition who even oppose righteousness. Somebody told me that they are paid to oppose,” he said.

He charged the new commissioner to ensure that there was peace and order in all border areas connecting Ebonyi and other States of the federation, especially in 2019.

“You have to improve our security and ensure that there is peace in all the border areas, especially as we enter into the election period and you may have little time to fight against any political opponents.

“So, there is so much fight, and so with your professionalism, we know very well that you are going to improve on what your predecessor left behind,” he stated.

Earlier in a remark, the new commissioner of Police CP, Musa Kimo said he was prepared to fight and ensure that all criminals were sent packing out of the state, especially as the 2019 general elections were approaching.

“We are prepared to ensure that all criminals in Ebonyi State are sent packing. The police under my watch will be responsible, will be responsive, will be reliable and I tell you, you can trust the police,” he assured.
