Primary schools in Abia state has come under heavy infrastructure decay, according to findings. Visits by IGBERE TV correspondent to some state owned primary schools in the state revealed that many of them are in very sorry situation despite huge allocation by the Ikpeazu led administration.

Except few lucky schools with proactive PTA, in all the primary schools visited by our correspondent in Aba, Bende and Ohafia, the story was the same.

Speaking to ABIA BREAKING NEWS  on the condition of anonymity, a resident expressed sadness over the poor state of infrastructure in Ofali Agwu Primary School Amaekpu Ohafia, fearing it may cease to exist if urgent steps are not taken to reverse the ugly trend.

He also noted that no form of renovation has been effected on the primary school for years, leading to a near total infrastructure collapse in the school. “For several years, this school has remained like this. No form of maintenance is done to give it a face lift. A situation where pupils sit on bare floor to learn is unacceptable. The roofs are eyesore. No board in the available classrooms. The list is endless” he lamented.

He therefore called on the state government to come to their rescue. “We want the government to help us renovate and revive the school. It is the only primary education centre in this community. It should not be allowed to go into extinction. It will be a bad omen for the community and indeed the future generation” the resident said.
